The Nature Made vitamins at issue were sold by various major retailers across the country, including Costco, who issued this statement. At the time of the recall, many consumers received letters from Pharmavite LLC alerting them of the recall and the particular risk to which they may have been exposed as certain vitamins were only exposed to either Salmonella or Staph; not both. For example, Pharmavite’s position on the Super B Complex w/ C Folic Acid vitamins is that they were only potentially exposed to Staph. That said, it was not always possible to identify the person that purchased the contaminated vitamins, so not every person that was potentially victimized was made aware via a direct mailing.
